Call for participants for a voice recording study!
Ryan Jenkins (supervised by Dr Josh Davis)
PhD research project
This is a call for participants who may be interested in a voice recording study.
The aim is to collect voice samples that will contribute towards designing a platform for a new voice recognition test that focuses on the performances of the higher end of the voice recognition ability spectrum, or potential super-voice-recognisers.
More information on super-voice-recognisers can be found briefly here: https://www.superrecognisers.com/post/new-scientist-article-voice-and-face-recognition-ability-correlations
For the current advertised study you will be asked to join a Zoom meeting with Ryan who will be available to help resolve any issues that occur. You will be required to record directly into audacity (https://www.audacityteam.org/) using a microphone. The task itself is simple, you will be asked to provide information about a holiday, and repeat a set of written sentences from a script that will be provided to you. Total study duration will be 15-20 minutes. There is a £5 Amazon voucher for participation.
IMPORTANT: To take part in this study you must fit the following eligibility requirements:
1. Male or female
2. Age = 18 – 26 years old
3. Ethnicity = White British
4. Come from the South East region of England = Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, East Sussex, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Kent, Oxfordshire, Surrey and West Sussex
Note: This criteria is for consistency in the current research; there may be future recordings required using different criteria
If you fit the above criteria and are interested in participating, please contact Ryan on Ryan.Jenkins@Gre.ac.uk, confirming the above information. Ryan will then arrange a time to take part!
Thank you in advance!
